What Does The Bible Say About The Living God
What does the Bible say about God?
What does the Bible say about the Living God? This is something I'd like to share to you as the old year is about to end! It is worth pondering as the New Year is being ushered in! But before that, you might be tempted to question, why the Bible? Why am I not referring to any other source? Well, in one of my previous blog post "What Does The Bible Say About Itself," I have provided Biblical references from the Holy Bible itself, why it is indeed reliable! You may read my previous post later if you'd like.
So, now we'd like to focus on the topic: What does the Bible say about the Living God! Many people worship other gods, but the God that I worship is very much alive and living! I hope you worship this living God too! He is the one who created you, me, the world we live in, and the vast universe! In this particular blog post, I'll share with you certain Bible texts, together with the verse itself, and a few lines that we can get from that text! Again, to use our modern understanding of English, I'll be using the New King James Version Bible which I believe has the closest translation into the current English language we speak. The New King James Version Bible eliminates the old English poetic words as thou, thee, canst, and many more! Instead, it uses the modern words as you, can't, and others for our easier understanding. Now let's dig in!
Some of the Characteristics of God:
Psalm 90:2 - "Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world. Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."
- He is eternal!
Daniel 2:21 - "And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding."
- It is He who sets up and brings down Kings! He alone can change the times and seasons!
Daniel 2:20 - Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His"
- God is all wise and powerful!
Isaiah 46:10 - "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.'
- He declares the end from the beginning. When He told Noah about the flood, it did happen. The vision of the different kingdoms He told the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar, did happen and can be verified through historical chronology!
Isaiah 45:21 - "Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is non besides Me."
- He alone can tell the future. There is no other gods besides Him!
Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
- God is an all powerful creator!
Jeremiah 31:3 - "The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.'"
- God has drawn us with loving kindness!
Exodus 34:6,7 - "And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, 'The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation.'"
- God is gracious, longsuffering, and merciful!
Psalms 24:1 - "A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein."
- God owns the whole wide world!
Psalm 19:1 - "To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork."
- The heavens reveal God's glory!
Psalm 34:1-4 - "A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."
- Praise God and He will deliver us from our fears.
Isaiah 41:10 - "'Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'"
- God promised to strengthen and help us.
Isaiah 43:1-3 - "But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior, I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.'"
- God declared we are His! He promised to be with us through the waters and through the fire.
Hebrews 13:5 - "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'"
- God promised not to leave you nor forsake you.
